When Donald Trump entered Office the second time (Trump 2.0) he apparently became more determined to make money "at all costs" than in his first term, ignoring everything around him. He would probably sell his mother for a buck. His behaviour also makes him a security threat for the USA, because he thinks he lives in an alternative reality.
That Trumps love money above all especially shows with the war in Ukraine. He wants "peace at all cost", and as quick as possible, having eyes to make business with Russia. Setting aside that Putin is a dictator who wants to conquer territory of weaker countries and indiscriminately killing civilians, Trump might think supporting a bully is okay, as long as he makes a buck. He is not seeing that for the US Russia never really had been a profitable business partner. All Russia has a natural resources, and Trump wants to have access. He's so blinded that he cannot see Putin want — well has to continue the war to secure his own political future.

Trump thinks he knows better than guys at the Pentagon and CIA
Trump is falling for Putin's games again and again, probably half a dozen time by time of this writing. This usually follows the well known path that Trump wants (again) to talk to Ukraine's Zelensky in person, while a day before Putin calls on the phone. Trump comments with the same "the call has been very productive" every time. Putin is able to persuade Trump to not help Ukraine, but allows Putin to buy more time to wage war. Putin plays Trump like a violin, because he falls for it again and again and again. Trump is not learning how counterproductive it is listening to Putin. It looks like Donald Trump has advanced dementia. If a demented person is president of a country, let alone the most powerful, this is highly dangerous. This raises the question why no on in his circles replaces Trump. My hunch is he is surrounded by yes-men afraid to speak up because of fear Trump will fire them, and in some way end their career. This neither Vance, Rubio or others have the balls to stand up to Trump. This forces the United State to navigate through more and more dangerous waters. Not only creating a gap with European allies, but endangering the survival of the USA as leading world power.
My guess is the guys in the Pentagon and FBI know that Putin want to continue to wage war against Ukraine. But Trump ignored what the experts say, again and again, and doesn't learn from past "attempts" for a peace deal in Ukraine, and that it is Putin and Putin alone who throws a wrench into the gears. Trump is a broken record. Trump thinks he know better than the high paid experts. I see only one way to deal with the war in Ukraine — shorten it.
Trump actively prolongs the war in Ukraine
While Trump is actively prolonging the war in the Ukraine he cannot see he might has the power to at least shorten it by supporting Ukraine with weapons and money, so Ukraine can protect her cities and civilians and stalling Russian troops while bombing Russian military and facilities (to pay for the war) installations deep inside Russia, to bring the economy to the knees. Putin then will come to the negotiation table to ask for a cease fire. Which Ukraine then should reject, pushing for Russia's unconditional surrender. With not enough support for Ukraine the European Union will continue to support Ukraine, to at least buy time to beef up their own armies to deter Russia to invade. Only helping Ukraine gives Trump the opportunity to get access to — what was once Russia — natural resources, like oil, gas and Rare Earths at some point in time. By not supporting Ukraine Trump will never get his hands on these resources.
Giving away the military advantage to China
May be the AI Race is a bubble, but many say who is leading in AI technology will have the edge when it comes to a military conflict. Like the looming war with China in 2027 (Pentagon estimation). Until 2025 the US had the edge over AI. While loosing to China when it comes to software, the US crown jewels are NVIDIA's GPU chips only the US and Europeans have access to. Joe Biden issued a policy of preventing those chips becoming available for China. But Trump saw an opportunity to make a quick buck, buy allowing NVIDIA's second best H20 chip to sell to China and getting 25 % out of its revenue. Trump's ballroom does pay itself.
Trump gives away the technological advantage over the (possible) future opponent in a conflict, only to make some money. Selling out America's technological advantage to China is similar to give Adolf Hitler a blueprint of how to build the atomic bomb.
