What malls are open on Christmas and New Year's Day and New Year's Eve 2019/2020

What malls are open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Years' Day 2019 to 2020

Can malls and stores be expected to be open on Christmas and New Year's Eve 2019 and New Year's Day 2020?

Unimportant if you live in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal or any other North American city, malls and stores will not be open on New Year's Day and Xmas but likely be open New Year's Eve. It's the same for cities and towns in the USA and Canada for the 2019/2020 season.

All stores are open now on New Year’s Day in the US. Regard that this might not the case for stores in Canada. It’s a big day for returning gifts and also spending the gift cards you got for Christmas as well as looking for bargains for yourself. Malls are open New Year’s Day and people go not only to shop but to grab a meal at the chain restaurants like Cracker Barrel/Outback Steakhouse etc…these tend to be at malls. In the US, liquor stores are regulated by state so you cannot make a blanket statement.

What a service is open usually follows business hours for a Sunday. Call them up before to make sure.  And if you want to visit a restaurant, make a reservation as soon as possible. Train services, bus and metro services might be limited and operate on Sunday schedule.

What's open December 25th 2019 and January 1st 2020

  • Restaurants
  • Bars
  • Emergency and rescue services
  • Most museums
  • Convenience stores
  • Liquor stores

What's closed
