Phone numbers of Nigerian, Romance and other scammers
What can you do?
Actually known numbers of scammers, like in the list below, can be used to train your spam filter. When you come across scam providing a phone number you can often use a filter your mail provider offers. Simply by entering this number to match the body of a mail and select delete mails with these end up in the trash folder or are deleted right away. In the first case you should also set up to delete all message in trash after 30 days or so, giving you the chance to check if may be a good mail slipped through. You can also, like me, make a list of these numbers and publish them on a web page to warn others which might actually fall for scam like this but check Google against these numbers.
What to NOT do
Well don't call, don't send a text message, unless you have too much cash on your hands you want to get rid of. When you call or text them the scammer will have your phone number, unless you know how to block you own caller ID (CLIP). You cannot block your number in case of sending text messages. But if you are bored and know how to block your own number it might be fun to steal their time. if you can, also record that conversation and make it available for others in the internet (you can use YouTube for example) to enjoy.
Conclusion
What ever you do, do not let the scammers get hold of your phone number. They're going to call you frequently and might even make money by selling you number to others, increasing scammy calls on your line. Your number is burnt, doomed and becomes a nightmare to use. In that case you might want to ask your phone provider to assign a new number for you. Be careful then in future that this does not happen again.

Note that the + sign indicates a country code is following. In case of +1 these numbers are registered in the United States, Canada and some of the Latin American countries, while +44 indicates they are in the United Kingdom. That doesn't necessarily means the spammer actually is present in this country the call or text message seems to originate from.
